Why Should I Clean and Preserve My Wedding Gown?

It’s completely optional to clean and preserve your wedding gown but we strongly suggest it, especially if you want to keep it. You might believe that hanging your wedding dress in your closet or putting it into a storage container might be a strategic move.

Here are a few reasons you should look into wedding gown preservation:

  1. Over time, your wedding gown could be exposed to contaminants like dust, mold, and more. When humidity gets high, so does the chances of mold growth.
  2. The delicate fabric in wedding gowns is susceptible to yellowing when stains aren’t treated in time. Even if you didn’t spill anything on your dress, think about how hectic your wedding day was. You were probably dancing around with sweat stains under your arms or hugging your guests. Makeup residue could be left on your gown. Not to mention the food you were enjoying, which could’ve left stains.
  3. You can preserve the dress in pristine condition as a special keepsake. Whether you want to pass it down to your daughter, or just want to remember your special day, wedding gown preservation is worth it.

There are so many reasons to preserve your wedding dress. Our experienced process ensures a risk-free way of preserving your wedding day. You won’t regret it.

What is the Wedding Gown Preservation and Cleaning Process?

Step 1) Inspection

Your wedding gown is inspected for damaged threads or loose beading. At this point, careful mending can be done if necessary.

Step 2) Cleaning

We’ll hand treat any stains or dirt marks, then move into cleaning each gown individually. This is done on our state-of-the-art equipment. We take every precaution to protect the delicate beads, embroidery and lace during the cleaning process.

Step 3) Packaging

After the cleaning is completed, your wedding gown is pressed and preserved. We wrap it in a layer of acid-free tissue paper, lignin-free muslin, then pack your wedding gown in a museum-quality, archival acid-free box.
